
Finally, the 10 minutes barrier which lasted for nearly 90 years, uprooted in the 89th Annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb by "Monster Sport" Suzuki SX4 2011, spurred by Japanese veteran racer Nabuhiro Tajima, 60 with a new record time of 9:51:58. This record is also the only one who managed to scored under 10 minutes at the finish line at the peak altitude of 4,500 meters.

This Suzuki SX4, of course, was no normal SX4. Team Monster Sport's SX4 Hill Climb Special had a race car chassis and 910-horsepower twin-turbo V-6 engine. That's about 90 hp less than a Bugatti Veyron. Tajima raced up Pikes Peak for the first time in 1988 and won in the unlimited division for the first time in 1993. He won again on 1995. His record run came in 2007 with 10:01:41.

Tajima, has won six times of PPIHC "Race to the Cloud" and obtain "King of the Mountain" title.
