Subaru Enter Indonesia in CKD Form


Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) manufacturers of Subaru, signed a joint venture with Tan Chong Group for production of Subaru cars for local assembly in Malaysia. This collaboration allows Subaru to enter Indonesia in the form of assembly (CKD), so far, all Subaru vehicles sold in Indonesia is fully imported (CBU) from Japan.

The first model that will made and also be sold in Indonesia is a compact SUV based on Subaru Concept XV. The car was first shown at the Shanghai Auto Show 2011 is a 4-door SUV with a capacity of 5 passengers. Subaru said that this compact SUV will be using AWD system (All Wheel Drive) Subaru and Lineartronic CVT.

PT. TC Subaru, as sole Subaru distributor in Indonesia, expanding the network to increase the number of Subaru sales in Indonesia. Today, Subaru has a showroom in Pondok Indah in South Jakarta, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, and Batam. The plan, in this month's Subaru will open two new showrooms in Surabaya and Bali. "We are targeting to open 20 more outlets in 2013," said Glenn Tan, President Director of PT. TC Subaru. Glenn Tan said the expansion is focused on putting a complete infrastructure such as 3S (Sales, Service and Spare parts) and service center in one location. This will provide easier access to customers.
