Mazda Motor Corporation (MMC) introduced the RX-8 SPIRIT R. This version is a special edition, the RX four-door, four-seat rotary-engined. Sales plan begins 24 November 2011 at all Mazda and Mazda Anfini dealers in Japan. This special edition is the last production of the Mazda RX-8 which will be discontinued at the end of June 2012. Mazda hopes to sell about 1,000 units of this edition.
SPIRIT R RX-8 using a base RX-8 Type RS (8-speed manual transmission) and Type E (six-speed automatic transmission that electronically controlled). SPIRIT R special edition name previously used to mark the end of the RX-7. Characteristic of this last edition, appear more stylish and exclusive seat design with stylish bouquet of Recaro. While alloy rims color paired with 225/40-R19 89W (brass color).
This car is fitted with a special logo SPIRIT R, headlights, fog lights and rear combination with a black bezel. Front and rear brake calipers are also painted red. The same thing has been done to transmission house, painted black piano and for security installed in front SRS airbags and curtain models on the side.
This exclusive model, leather seats with red stitching. Leather steering wheel as well as upholstery to make interior has more stylish appearance, the red lever transmissions, sport suspension characterized and large disk brakes. Also provided with tire and rim version 225/45-R18 91 W. For the body color, options, aluminum metallic, black mica and sparkling crystal white pearl mica.

For the 6-speed automatic transmission is controlled electronically (Activematic), sold 3.12 million yen. Although the production RX-8 is stopped, Mazda said it will continue to develop the rotary engine.
